I’m dreading tomorrow night…it could be the last time I ever get to watch a new episode of Stargate. It’s the final SGU episode, and it looks like there may not be any new series or any more SG-1 or Atlantis movies. And so ends a chapter of my life that started 14 years ago. We may never get to find out what happens to the crew of the Destiny. It’s Firefly all over again.

Why I’m ditching vBulletin for IP.Board
May 16th, 2010
bbcentral My website Blues Brothers Central has had a forum since early 2004. Initially I wrote my own basic forum, but it became clearly soon afterwards that it needed something more powerful.
Why PayPal Sucks…
April 11th, 2010
bbcentral So here’s the story of how I was permanently banned from using PayPal.
In late 2008, I made a post on a web developers forum asking for someone to build a PHP script to extract thumbnails from FLV files (Flash Video). At the time I had to manually take screenshots of videos I post on my site, the point of the script was to automatically generate thumbnails of the videos as they’re uploaded (similar to YouTube). Although I’m very well versed in PHP programming, I’m not very familiar with FLV files and how to extract thumbnails (it required access to extra server software).
DVD Censorship in South Australia
January 19th, 2010
bbcentral Another example of Governments gone crazy…
As of last week, the South Australian government has decided that all R18+ DVDs must be sold in plain blank covers and kept in a separate part of the store (with the pornography). This is to “protect” children from seeing the covers of adult DVDs, which will somehow cause psychological damage to them.
A Plea on Behalf of Web Developers Everywhere!
December 14th, 2009
bbcentral Why are there still so many people using Internet Explorer 6? It was released in 2001, since then IE7 and IE8 have been released. Windows Update has provided updates for the browser, doesn’t anyone update their operating system?

Rise of the Idiots
June 9th, 2009
bbcentral Warning: I’m about to rant here, big time. I really don’t care if anyone reads this or not, I’m doing this for my own benefit so I can try to move on. Whether you agree or disagree with me is something I have no interest in.
Amazon.com can be so hopeless sometimes…
May 8th, 2009
bbcentral For the record, I love Amazon.com. I order dozens of CDs and DVDs through them all the time.
On my site I wrote a function to use Amazon Web Services to download product data for actors. For example, you visit Dan Aykroyd’s page and all his DVDs appear at the bottom. Simple enough.
Channel Ten are LIARS!
March 24th, 2009
bbcentral
Network Ten in Australia have been airing the TV series “Lie To Me” since it began. This is one of the few shows they “Fasttrack” (ie they air it 1 week after it airs in the USA).
Will you crazy people leave me alone?
March 3rd, 2009
bbcentral So as you all know I built www.lcarsdeveloper.com back in 2002, when I used to be a bit of a Star Trek fan (something I lost interest in very quickly).
At the time I was teaching myself Flash, and I wanted to take on a big project to test my Flash skills and improve on them, so I started messing around with the computer interface from Star Trek, which is known as “LCARS”.
Drunk Programming
February 26th, 2009
bbcentral Programming is more fun when you’re drunk. I’m actually enjoying it again for the first time in months! And all it took was 2 glasses of bourbon and 2 glasses of Irish Whiskey!
